“British legislators have urged their government to engage in talks with “moderate elements” within Hamas, saying that the Quartet’s policy of shunning the Palestinian group until it accepted previous understandings with Israel, i.e. renounced violence and came to terms with Israel’s existence, had proven to be counterproductive ” the Jerusalem Post Reports.

What in the world is going on… all Israel wants to re-start peace negotiations is for Hamas to renounced violence and came to terms with Israel’s existence. If those two things are counterproductive, what is the sense of talking? Isn’t that what you call peace? If they won’t do those two things what on earth makes you think they will stop firing Kassams at you or sending suicide bombers to blow up buses full of people after you have met their demands? Am I the only one that sees this, what are the world leaders thinking?

Meanwhile, the European Union foreign policy Chief, Javier Solana, is calling for the United Nations Security Council to recognize a Palestinian state by a certain deadline even if an agreement is not reached between Israel and the Palestinians. “After a fixed deadline, a UN Security Council resolution should proclaim the adoption of the two-state solution,” Solana said, adding that it should include border parameters, refugees, control over the city of Jerusalem and security arrangements.

“It would accept the Palestinian state as a full member of the UN, and set a calendar for implementation. It would mandate the resolution of other remaining territorial disputes and legitimize the end of claims,” Solana continued.
Advocating a return to Israel’s borders before 1967, Solana said mediators should set a timetable for a peace deal. “If the parties are not able to stick to [the timetable], then a solution backed by the international community should be put on the table,” he said.

Or in other words, the UN will take the land, divide it as they see fit and force their decision on Israel. Maybe Mexico should do the same as well as England and the French!

Iran has posted a new package of “proposals” to the West in response to its offer of engagement on Tehran’s nuclear activities. Foreign ministry spokesman, Hassan Qashqav,i said “But we cannot speak of a Middle East without nuclear weapons without discussing the more than 200 nuclear warheads of the Zionist regime Israel,”
Qashqavi’s statement is the Islamic Republic’s typical way of launching a hardball game with the West by a demand to dismantle Israel’s never-confirmed nuclear arsenal without making any promises about Iran’s nuclear program, or even the uranium enrichment activities banned by the UN Security Council. In fact, he persisted in denying that Tehran had any plan to develop nuclear weaponry.

And so this is the kind of news I read everyday and just shake my head. I don’t know what news you get where you live about what is going on in Israel, but here are a few links to the news in Israel. You just may be surprised what you will read and learn. It’s the kind of stuff you won’t hear on the Nightly News or the read in the LA Times.
