As the war continues, our daily activities have changed with the needs of the people of Sderot. For the most part, the soldiers that were in Sderot have been relocated or released for the time being and more residents have returned home. Most of the businesses in town have reopened, although there are still a few that remain closed by choice or because of damage to them.

We have refocused our attention back onto the kids in school that we fed before October 7th.  And once again we are making sure no child goes hungry. We still are helping the families we were helping before, making sure they have food, the electric is kept on, they have the prescriptions they need and transportation when needed.

It’s Home!

Installing the Maya Project Barrel Bolts on safe room doors is still high on our priority list of tasks to fulfill as we continue to install the locks..

We are still receiving rockets from Gaza but not as often as before. The “booms” from Artillery fire still rattles our window and Jet air traffic seems to be the norm now. For those of us that have the “red Alert” app on our phones, we are constantly being made aware of the ongoing rocket fire in the north as well as in the south from Gaza.

The biggest concerns right now are the threats of retaliation from Iran. It has everyone on edge. The threats from Iran came with a 48-hour time frame, or as soon as Ramadan was over, which was yesterday 6 Apr.

When I went out shopping for Shabbat on Thursday night, there was not even one bottle of water to be found in the two markets I went to. People are stocking up on non-perishable food items as the rhetoric and threats from Iran fly.

To add to the situation, the understanding that President Biden has threatened to cut off military aid and the same is coming from some in the congress as well. These news reports cause Hamas to shout for joy as they boast, they are winning the war.

The Face… The Bullet Holes

Yes, the threats from Iran might now be the biggest concern. It feels like we are just sitting here waiting for it to happen. I compare it to a pregnant woman that knows her due date is now just any day, and she is just waiting for her water to break and for the labor pains to begin.

There was somewhere to go for the residents who felt they needed to evacuate after October the 7th. But in this scenario with Iran, there will be no place to go, no place where more sophisticated weapons can’t hit.

No matter what happens or from which direction it comes from, Hope For Sderot is committed to doing all it can through whatever happens to help the residents of Sderot.

We know we are not in this task by ourselves. We are very much aware of your prayers, love and support for us.

With Passover just two weeks away we are looking to be able to help those who just don’t have the means to set their Passover tables. We will do our best to provide what we are able to, help them have a joyful Passover, even in the middle of a war and with threats hanging overhead. To help us meet these needs, click here.

Thank you for your support as we look forward to our task In front of us.
