We Have Hit The One-Year Mark
One Year and counting
We had hit the one-year mark since the atrocities against Israel when Hamas sent some 3000 terrorists and civilians to rape, murder, and mutilate innocent men, women, and children as they celebrated the last day of the biblical feast of Sukkot, October 7, 2024. Sukkot 2024/5784 is now just six days away.
Terrorists overran our Police department as they savagely killed the seventeen police officers who were on duty that day.
As the terrorists barricaded themselves in the police station, the decision to demolish the building with the terrorists still inside was made. The terrorists who tried to escape were either killed or captured.
Within 24 hours of the police department’s demolition, only some rebar from the foundation remained. It has remained a vacant lot for the good part of the past year.
The Decision
The decision was made not to rebuild on that site but to turn it into a memorial park in honor of our fallen police officers. That project was completed on October 6th. Just one day later, on October 7th, the park was dedicated to the fallen officers.
Before, after, the park.
As we remember and as we mourn, uncertainty surrounds us as we are being attacked from seven different fronts. Fear is a crippling feeling, and for some, it is hard even to go shopping or out of the house.
With one hundred and seven hostages still being held in underground tunnels, families try to go on and not lose hope for a soon and safe return.
For the families that lost loved ones on this day a year ago, the holidays, which were to be joyful times, are now shrouded in sorrow and broken hearts.
There is One who sees, One who judges, and One who Will, in due time, turn our weeping into joy… but today is not that day.
Your out pouring of love and support
Some of you have supported Hope For Sderot for a long time and we thank you for that! The out pouring of love and support over the past year since the war began with your gifts and prayers has been over whelming. We can not thank you enough.
I cannot tell you anymore how many meals we have cooked for soldiers, how many pounds of baked goods we have distributed, how much humanitarian aid we have given, how many shopping carts we have filled or how many cakes Eti has baked!
Nor can count the tears we shed with those we help or the words of encouragement spoken to them. I cannot count how many blessings and prayers have been said for our soldiers as we see them off for another round in Gaza and now the north as well?
What I can tell you is that your support has made this all possible. As you know, Hope For Sderot is a humanitarian aid organization, but there is ONE who touched your heart to support us. It is that same ONE who gives us the strength and the will to do the work HE has called us to do.
“Yet who knows whether we have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
I do not know what tomorrow holds for us here in Sderot or the rest of Israel, But I do know who holds our future!
Thank you for you unwavering love, prayers and support.
