That Didn’t Take Long
Well, That Didn’t Take Long!
As we pondered what to do in light of a major rent increase, I was discussing the situation with Pinkus, a long-time friend. He said, “Let me see what I can find for you.”
A few days later, he called me to tell me he had a place he wanted me to look at. The building he showed me was once a preschool. It is more than double the size of our present location. It comes with a fenced-in yard, and the children’s swings are still intact. The biggest blessing… It’s half the cost of our present location!
It will need a fresh coat of paint and a good cleaning, but once that is completed, it will be a wonderful place to call home!
Since almost all our volunteers are now in their late sixties and early seventies, I can’t ask them to help move all our supplies from one location to another, so we are looking into hiring a moving company to move all the boxes. We can prepare everything for the move.
The painting is no problem, as is the disassembly and reassembly of our shelving, although some changes will be needed to accommodate the new location.
Between moving, repairs, and painting, we are looking at $ 6,000 in material costs and moving labor. Moving labor is the only labor we will have to pay for; everything else will be done in-house. That labor will be free as it will be done by me, Eti, and other Hope For Sderot volunteers.
As it stands now, the building becomes ours on Friday, 20 Feb, and then the painting and repairs begin. We plan to open our doors by the end of March 2026.
If you could find it in your heart to pray for and maybe even help us reach our goal, we will be forever grateful.
We will post updates and pictures on our website and Facebook page.
