“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!” Psalms 119:9,10

David knew he had a sin issue in his life, because he starts off by saying, “How can a young man cleanse his way”. Only if you know you are dirty do you know you have to be cleansed. His remedy to his problem… “Taking heed to thy word.”

Interesting enough, even though he seeks G-D with his whole heart, he still cries to G-D;
“Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!” How can this be? How can I seek G-D with my whole heart and still wander from the G-D I love?

I ask myself that ever time I wander, every time I sin, every time I neglect His word, His commands. How can anything or anybody be more important to me than G-D?

In Verse 11, David sheds a little more light. “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You!” that word “hidden” means to esteemed, to hide, treasure, or store up. Do I treasure the word of G-D; I mean do I really, really, truly and honestly treasure the word of G-D?  Am I like Job who said, “I have esteemed the words of His mouth more than my necessary food”? What do I have hidden in my heart?
