Non Stop Air Raids
Air Raid Siren Sounding Non-Stopped
Air raid siren sounded for the first time on 28 Feb 2026 on Shabbat morning at 8:13 a.m. in the morning. Since then, they have not stopped sounding throughout every region of Israel. Many rockets and drones were taken out before they could cause widespread damage across the land, but still, some made landfall. Reports say there have been 28 deaths and 3238 injuries, but those numbers can change within minutes due to the constant shelling ofIsrael. |
Gaza seems to have fallen out of the news, but there are still military operations going on in Gaza. We are still getting requests for Shabbat food, blankets, beanies, scarves, socks, and whatever little spoiling goodies we can send them.
We have been making two trips a day to the front lines, but since the schools are closed, the afternoon trip with hot food from the school has been put on hold.
The school lunch program is currently halted, as schools have been closed since the start of this military engagement. No date has been given yet for the schools to reopen.
Thanks be to GOD, Sderot has not been targeted as much as the north has, but we have had several “Tseva Adom” alarms go off. Outside activity is considerably less than normal.
Despite all that is going on, we, on the other hand, are in the middle of moving into our new Hope For Sderot building. The building has been cleaned out, the main room has been repainted, three of the eight shelving units have been installed, and all of the stock from our old building has been moved over. |
To help keep costs down, all the old wooden shelving has been disassembled, and we are re-milling it all into usable lumber to build the new shelving units we need. It’s a bit time-consuming and labor-intensive as some wood is being cut in the old building before it is moved to the new building, while some lumber is being taken to the shop to be milled into new usable sizes, some parts are being pre-assembled, and then it is taken to the new facility for assembly. |
As it was twenty years ago, it is still a labor of love. “Tseva Adom” alarms are still being heard, and finding a safe place is still on your mind. The old facility had bomb shelters within a 15-second time frame before a rocket strike. We are not as fortunate in our new facility. The closest bomb shelter is probably a good minute and a half run away. I am twenty years older, as are the rest of our volunteers, so that isn’t feasible for us. I checked with the city to see if there was any help with installing a closer shelter, but unfortunately, we didn’t meet the criteria for their assistance. To privately purchase a shelter, we are looking at 30,000 shekels, or around $10,000. So, for now, as always, we will trust and rely on GOD for His protection. It looks like we will be totally out of the old facility by the end of March, although we will still have work to do in the new facility. We will need to take a break the last week of March, as we will all need time to make our own personal preparations for Passover. |
Speaking about Passover, Passover begins on April 1, 2026. As in the past, it has been our desire to help as many families as possible for the first spring feast.
This year, some people have been out of work since the beginning of March, which makes the holiday especially hard for them. As with everything else Hope For Sderot does, it is out of our hands. As with everything we do, we need to trust and rely on GOD and the willing hearts of our supporters.
We thank you for your love and continued support. We remain faithful to our calling and mission… to bring Hope For Sderot, no matter what is happening around us.
