The L-RD our G-D spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain: Turn you and take your journey, and go…’” Deuteronomy 1:6
While in Horeb, while at the base of Mt. Sinai the children of Israel accomplished much,  They made the Tabernacle, Menorah, and holy implements, they appointed the Sanhedrin (or judges to help Moses) and most important of all they received Torah.

In simple language, G-D said “You have been here long enough, its time to move on.” The children of Israel were blessed and accomplished all they were to accomplish there. It was now time to take what they had learned and “Go” to  accomplish what G-D had for them to do elsewhere.

How about us, are we still sitting at the base of Sinai, Blessed and content, comfortable and satisfied not wanting to “Go”?  And yet we were never called to settle down until we reach the Promised Land. We are to dwell in tents until we come to “the land of large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn–out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant.” Deut 6:10, 11

Just a thought… what are we doing with the time, talents and resources G-D had given us, are we sitting in Horeb (which by the way literally means “desert”) or am I; are you, are we willing to “GO” to the Promised Land and use what He has given us to His glory?
