Hope for Sderot

A Time To Remember

We celebrate Passover tonight at sunset. Most people think Passover is an 8-day event, but it’s not. Passover is a single-day celebration. Where most people get confused is at sunset, as Passover ends, at the very same time, the Feast of Unleavened Bread begins, so the two holidays are consecutive for the following eight days.

Both holidays prompt us to REMEMBER. On Passover, we remember the night the firstborn of Egypt died, but none of the children of Israel died. On the Feast of Unleavened Bread, we remember that we left Egypt in haste, remember we were slaves, and look forward to a brighter future.

A Time To Remember

Along with remembering where we have come from and the many blessings YAH has bestowed upon us, I can’t help but also remember all your love and support, which have made Hope For Sderot able to do what we do, to bring hope to the people of Sderot.

God has called us to make HIS deliveries for Him, and HE has touched your hearts, making it all possible. Without you and HIM, there would be no Hope For Sderot, and the people we help would still be in their Egypt with no glimmer of hope for a brighter day.

So not only over the next 8 days will we remember what YAH has done for the Children of Israel, but we will also remember your love, prayers, support, friendship, and kindness.

Getting It Together

The move from our old building was completed on time, and the keys to it have been returned to the owner.  The new building is coming together. All but two of the new shelving units have been built, and we are starting to see it coming together. There is still a way to go, as we have the kitchen to repair and some plumbing issues we want to address. As they say in Hebrew, le’at le’at (slowly, slowly).

Even though everything is not “Just Right” yet, we are still functional as diapers, shoes, and clothing went out last week. We are expecting a new shipment of supplies on the 5th of April, so the carpenter (that’s me) had better get his act together and finish the shelving units!

Sderot - Twenty Years ago and Today
Twenty Years ago and Today

As this war continues to drag on, people are on edge, the streets are not as full with traffic and shoppers as normal, and school is open on a limited basis.  We have been asked to postpone large gatherings, such as weddings and other events, for safety’s sake.

Next Generation of Terrorists

No matter how this war plays out or how long it will last, how many more Tseva Adom alarms will sound, with GOD’s grace and your help, we will continue to do our best to share our  Hope For Sderot.

As global attention focuses on escalating tensions between Iran and the White House, Hamas is once again, by any and all means, launching a brutal campaign to once again take control over Gaza.

For me, this is no surprise, as I have watched this happen time and time again after many so-called “cease-fires”. In the past, with each ceasefire, Hamas took the opportunity to regroup, retrain, restock, and prepare to pick up where they left off before this last ceasefire.  To date, there have been five major conflicts and numerous smaller flare-ups, rocket fire, and cross-border incidents over the past 19 years.

Hope For Sderot has been here for them all, doing our best to serve the people of  “ Rocket City”, “Bomb Shelter Capital of the World”, the people of Sderot. Thank you for your love, support, and prayers as we continue and share our Hope For Sderot.

Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                       Stewart Ganulin                                                                                                                                           Director                                                                                                                                                           Hope For Sderot
